We’re TOP 50 in the UK

The top 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways for 2025 have officially been announced by Fry Magazine; and Two Gates Fisheries is in the top 50!

Having a spot in the top 50, out of approximately 11,000 fish and chips shops throughout the UK, is an incredible achievement which we are immensely proud to have achieved. Out of Barnsley, there is Two Gates Fisheries and only one other fish and chip shop from, based in Dodworth, has joined us in the top 50 - so it’s fair to say we have also done Barnsley proud.

The results follow months of judging in which fish and chip shops nationwide were secretly assessed by mystery diners on a range of aspects such as food quality, premises cleanliness, staff expertise, value for money, ease of ordering, and social media presence. The Fry Awards prove that quality fish and chips can be enjoyed anywhere.

This is the 13th year the awards have taken place and judges were not disappointed with the quality of entrants or the food served. Feedback included comments such as “The staff were so friendly”, “The best fish and chips we had tasted in a long time”, “The fish was perfectly white”, and “No improvements need to be added, they are doing a fantastic job”.

Starting the year as award winners is a fantastic way for us to kick off 2025, setting the tone for a successful year ahead. Once again, we are grateful for every customer we have the pleasure of serving.
